The Importance of LinksLink

Importance of links<br />

The Importance of LinksLink building, some companies will say it’s the heart of SEO work. Those companies are partially right. Examine the first story. Then, imagine back when the internet first dawned on the public; this would do much to aid you, the costumer, on the importance of links.

Examine some big names in the clothing industry Hugo Boss, Gucci, Armani. How did they get known? They may have started out with a design for a shirt, pants or a hat. Those designers would ask their friends for their options about such things like color choice, pattern, etc. Once, the product was made the friends would go around town wearing those items. The friends would tell people who enquired "Such & Such is the best fashion Designer!” after maybe seeing that item or hearing that phrase over and over again the interested party tends to believe it. Sally the fashion queen at school, an authority of fashion, is seen wearing the item. Sally's popularity has now propelled it to the newest fashion craze. Tom is another kid at school he is seen as the authority of computers & all things electronic. Kids see Tom wearing another designer's item, some like it, but, Tom isn't the authority on fashion; thus, it turns many of the kids off to that item & particular designer.

Prior to internet commerce people mainly looked for information on hobbies, academic pursuits, maybe, even on tips about how to get the most out of this new invention. So, search engines really didn't exist in this time if you are to assume the first search engines where out in the early 90's(1993) and HTTP protocol(how web pages are to be interpreted) was developed around 1989. In fact, people would use fax modems to connect to other computers to retrieve information through things like BBS, telnet, or HTTP. People would find a web page through those services, read over what was being presented; and follow links to other sites that deal with the same material.

When search engines like Yahoo! & Google came on the scene these students decided to build part of their algorithm off of the relevancy of links from other pages(quality of links) & quantity. If you where looking for information on cars and one particular website was being linked to over & over again the algorithm would take that to mean that site has an authority presence on that type of information. Now, you can see that is in proportion to Google's or Yahoo's search results. After, all this is the most logical sequence given the internet's birth & how people would expect search engines respond to a keyword search.

Now, lets jump forward to modern times when internet is still for all intent and purposes, in its infancy; and being developed.
